The purpose of the Journal of Facility Planning, Design and Management (JFPDM) is to provide a forum for analyzing the management and organization of the delivery of facility planning and design for the fitness, physical activity, recreation, and sport to the profession. Its primary purpose is to bridge the gap between research and practice for fitness, physical activity, recreation, and sport administrators, educators, consultants, and researchers. Efforts will be made to include articles that are empirical in content and practical in orientation. Since the journal is directed at practitioners as well as researchers, articles will minimize technical language and excessive use of statistical reporting. JFPDM publishes distinguished original manuscripts that (1) move facility planning and design concepts forward in the fields of fitness, physical activity, recreation, and sports, and (2) provide clear implications of theory and research for problem solving and action in fitness, physical activity, recreation, and sport organizations. Emphasis is also given to papers that present conceptual and philosophical discussions of facility planning and design practices, thus opening up new forums for discussion and areas of research and study.
