Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discuss the merit of the use of both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation by adapted physical educators when planning, implementing, and evaluating their lessons. When both types are appropriately used, they can assist adapted physical educators to enhance student performance and learning. A variety of strategies to move students from extrinsic to intrinsic motivators is also discussed.
