Abstract

This case history describes the unique use and results ofextended recreation therapy intervention in an outpatient setting. The client was a 25 year old female with major depression, conversion disorder and suicidal ideation. Outpatient treatment focused on the appropriate expression of feelings, establishment of trust in relationships, the development of positive feelings of self-worth, the enhancement of social functioning, and the re-establishment of leisure functioning.
