Joint Special Issue - Call for Papers

This joint call for papers - the first between the Journal of Public Affairs Education and Journal of Nonprofit Education & Leadership - demonstrates the importance of the vital role our students will play in the future of the nonprofit sector, what and how we train our students for tomorrow are two very important questions for the field to consider today. We come together to facilitate contemplation and conversation regarding the future directions for nonprofit education. These special issues aim to explore how nonprofit, nongovernmental, and philanthropic pedagogy may evolve and change as the world around us changes.

JNEL is published four times (online and print) a year by Sagamore-Venture Publishing.

This quarterly journal's mission is to improve nonprofit education and leadership through the publication and dissemination of peer-reviewed manuscripts centered on professional practice, research, and theoretical discussions. Manuscript submissions are encouraged from authors inside and outside of academia.

The Journal of Nonprofit Education and Leadership publishes quality manuscripts to disseminate the latest knowledge related to nonprofit education and leadership to help develop theory and practice. The journal seeks quantitative and/or qualitative research findings; conceptual or theoretical discussions;  program best practices; teaching and research notes.

Relevant topic areas (centered on nonprofit education and leadership) for the journal include, but are not limited to: nonprofit governance, fundraising, volunteer management, operations, legal framework, philanthropy, program planning, implementation and evaluation, and financial management.

The journal provides a forum for authors interested in nonprofit education and nonprofit leadership to exchange information via quality, peer-reviewed articles. This exchange is designed to advance theory and improve practice.

The Journal of Nonprofit Education and Leadership is receiving a Journal Impact Factor (JIF)* for the first time in Clarivate’s 2023 Journal Citation Reports (2022 data). The Journal of Nonprofit Education and Leadership has a current JIF of 0.5.

(*The Journal Impact Factor (JIF) is a ratio which divides a journal’s received citations by a count of its published articles. It is calculated by Clarivate and reflects the yearly mean number of citations of articles published in the last two years in a given journal, as indexed by Clarivate's Web of Science.)

JNEL Online First

Online first papers can be accessed through the Online First link found on this page.

These articles have been peer-reviewed and accepted for publication in the Journal of Nonprofit Education and Leadership.

Each paper has a DOI number and publication year that can be used for citations.

The Online First version will be changed upon assignment to a specific issue.

  • JNEL is indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI).
  • Citations from the ESCI are included in the citation counts - Journal Citation Reports.
  • JNEL is discoverable via Web of Science with an identical indexing process to any other indexed journal, with full citation counts, author information and other enrichment.
  • Articles in ESCI-indexed journals are included in an author’s h-index calculation, and in analysis conducted on Web of Science data or related products, such as InCites.
