Abstract

The paper describes the successful systematic process that Jackson County has instituted to solicit sponsorship for special events and programs. It involves identification of potential sponsor companies, their target markets, key decision makers in each company, and the companies' budget cycles; the identification of agency staff and supporters who have personal contacts in these companies; and the establishment of personal links between agency staff and company personnel. Computerization of the procedure is critical to its success. A description of how sponsorship proposals are developed is included.
