Abstract

A rationale is provided for the implementation of single-subject methodology in therapeutic
recreation by presenting issues related to population characteristics, treatment
strategy, experimental control, and implementation and interpretation. The paper
presents issues related to single-subject research including: internal validity:. external
validity, reliability, and data analysis. Suggestions are provided for utilizing this
methodological technique with the intent of facilitating the application of singlesubject
research to answer questions relevant to therapeutic recreation.
