Abstract

As current trends in health care edge towards community-oriented care, growing numbers of individuals with physical disabilities require community-based treatment interventions. Aquatic-Solutions is a private enterprise that provides aquatic treatment intervention in community settings using an interdisciplinary team approach.. Provision of transitional group sessions and one-on-one lessons serve to alleviate participants' physical conditions and improve physical and psychosocial functioning, while promoting a lifetime recreational skill. Successful linkage with other health and recreation agencies enables AquaticSolutions to provide services in various community settings. Due to effective exposure of services to health insurance companies and thorough documentation, Aquatic-Solutions is receiving third-party reimbursement for treatment interventions. In addition to documented physical and psychosocial benefits, formal and anecdotal reports indicate that this program can improve participants' overall well-being.
