Abstract

The first half of a Baby Boomer's career was a period of enormous change, turmoil, and transition for the way life is lived in communities across the country. Born in the years after World War II, this large demographic surge lived through and, in some part, informed the emergence of this “new way.” There are as many different stories to tell as there are experiences. However, some patterns help illustrate why colleges and universities across the country have come to the world of nonprofit education.
