Abstract

A formal partnership between Colorado State University and the Colorado Division of Wildlife enhanced application of human dimensions insight in wildlife management in Colorado. Planned intervention and evaluation were used to develop the partnership. A consultant assisted the Division and University to identify common goals and facilitate interactions leading to formal collaboration. After establishing a partnership, external evaluators helped the partners improve communication and performance. Elements of a more generally applicable strategy for developing a management-research partnership are described.
