Abstract

The interaction between local communities and national parks has definite impacts on both sets of actors. Perceptions about the role of national parks in local economies and the quality of the relationship between communities and parks is explored in this study through the use of suryey research. The findings suggest convergence exists between park managers and local community leaders about the role of parks, which may serve to forward the complex and expanding agenda of the National Park Service.
