Abstract

The collection of accurate descriptive and statistical information about communities and regions is a continual challenge to recreation and park administrators. This article discusses library sources of information containing (1) demographic data, (2) local government financial data, (3) directory data on businesses and industries, and (4) data sources helpful in determining the economic impact of recreation services. This information is useful in the development of budgets, cost/benefit ratios, and economic impact estimations.
