Abstract

An algorithm for optimal allocation of resources to park maintenance operations is developed along with theory and justification for the procedure. The algorithm is designed to aid maintenance planning and management decision making. An integer programming (planning) formulation for this resource allocation problem is solved by the algorithm. Decision makers are park managers and supervisors, who attempt to maintain park standards with finite resources. The planning algorithm provides answers to the following questions: Given an operations budget, which tasks will be performed to set maintenance standards, which will be performed to reduced standards, and which should not be done?
