Abstract

The "feminization" of leisure services is a possibility in the coming years with the increasing number of women who are majoring in recreation and who will likely be entering the profession. Feminization refers to the predominance of females employed in the provision of leisure services. The purposes of this paper are to examine the explanations for this possible feminization and to explore the implications of changing numbers and roles of women in the leisure service profession. Questions are proposed that will need to be addressed to assure that the best provision and administration of leisure services occur in the future.
