Abstract

This paper overviews some of the terminology particular to strategic planning. An emphasis is placed on the way communication within strategic planning might affect the approach and conduct of recreation planning activities. Two key points are: a) strategic planning requires strategic thinking on the part of planners and administrators; and b) the language of strategic planning is different from other forms of planning and should be used judiciously in preparing and implementing recreation plans.
