Abstract

This paper describes a current trend in leisure research that may ultimately influence the process of leisure service evaluation. This trend involves greater sensitivity to the context within which the outcomes of programs and services are observed. It also includes the use of new and innovative methods in leisure service evaluation. In this paper, indicators of this trend are identified, a summary of the philosophical basis for increased sensitivity to context is provided, and implications to the evaluation of leisure services are discussed.
