Abstract

Leadership training is an important element in many recreation programs, yet the approach to this activity has emphasized traits of participants and applied management principles. Teaching leadership is better viewed as a specific process with defined and measurable components that can be structured into four stages. Adopting a process approach facilitates development in the many different settings where recreation programming could occur.?
