Abstract

A nationwide survey of municipal park and recreation administrators was conducted to gain professional input on two major issues: (I) the effect of "New Federalism" on local departmental operation, and (2) the opinions of administrators on strategies for departments operating in an era of fiscal stress.

This article is based on a paper prepared for a workshop entitled "Parks and Recreation 90: Public Parks and Recreation in the Next Decade" held in St. Louis, Missouri in September 1985 under the sponsorship of the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration.
