Abstract

To manage program operations, managers must make numerous decisions about how to structure program opportunities for participants. Decisions on these matters are often made without adequate knowledge about whether and how one's decisions influence the experience of the participants. This study investigated the influence of program formats that could be selected by program managers on participant-reported satisfaction with program engagement. Results indicate that there are differences in participant-reported satisfaction with program engagement by type of program format and that there are two format typologies that are useful for different purposes.
