Abstract

The impact of external forces upon leisure-service organizations indicates a need for improved performance evaluation. Current appraisal systems are many times deficient, although some, such as MBO, have attempted to bring the supervisor and subordinate together in establishing measurable objectives that can be used for performance appraisal.Proposed is a system which includes the careful analysis of the agency mission statement, the definition of impact areas within each position, and the development of competency measures used in assessing performance. A pilot test conducted indicates that leisure-service employees can delineate key impact areas and are capable of suggesting competency indicators.?
