Abstract

The global movement of Healthy Parks, Healthy People (HPHP) promotes parks as contributors to health and well-being and is a response to a cultural shift within public health and medical care worldwide. Increasingly, parks, greenways, and other protected areas are viewed not only as containing natural and cultural resources, but health resources as well, capable of providing distinctive and demonstrable health benefits to diverse populations (NPS, 2013; Sallis, Prodraaska, & Taylor, 2000).
