Abstract

Individuals with visual impairments need more accessible options and a variety of options for being physically active. The purpose of this paper is to present modifications and adaptations for individuals with visual impairment. This paper is designed for adapted physical educators, physical educators, paraprofessionals, and aquatic coaches to be able to reference for successful inclusion in aquatics for individuals with visual impairments. Throughout the research, there were four common themes found: visual impairment in physical activity, instructional strategies for those with visual impairments, adapted aquatics, and environmental modifications. Although there are several  aquatic programs for individuals with disabilities, there is a lack of research on including individuals with visual impairments.Subscribe to PALAESTRA
