Abstract

Recreational sports programs within higher education have become intertwined into the fabric of colleges and universities. However, oftentimes there is a student population that goes underserved by many campus recreation departments: students with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Expanding the current literature is important for higher education, specifically academic and campus recreation departments to better understand the growing need for inclusion.  The purpose of this paper is to apply the Commit to Inclusion Guidelines to a newly created inclusive recreation program within higher education.
