Abstract

There is a dearth of information in the therapeutic recreation literature about older adults with developmental disabilities/mental retardation (DD/MR). Thus far, the literature has primarily addressed younger persons with DD/MR. Participation in a Senior Integration Project (integrating older adults with DD/MR into senior centers) and a review of related literature, enables the presentation of recent thought and experience about integrating older adults with DD/MR into senior centers, and the implications for professional practice of integrating this group.
