Abstract

This clinical case history describes the use.and results of therapeutic recreation interventions with a 36 year-old homeless veteran receiving psychosocial rehabilitation in a therapeutic community (TC) setting. The. focus of treatment is to overcome homelessness by learning skills and making behavior changes that support employment, affiliation, and improved lifestyle following discharge. The interplay among leisure assessments,cognitive behavioral skills training and other therapeutic recreation techniques in the TC environment is illustrated.
