Abstract

There is a lack of an international and multicultural context in recreation therapy practices for people with physical disabilities. The purpose of this study was to investigate the contribution of leisure participation to personal growth among Korean individuals with a physical disability. Using hierarchical multiple regression analysis, this study found that frequent participation in outdoor and social activities were statistically significant predictors of personal growth. This study supports the efficacy of recreational therapists using social and outdoor activity interventions to address client’s goals for enhanced personal growth and psychological well-being.
