Spotlight on Nonprofit Educators: Kathleen McCleskey

Abstract

In the spotlight feature of this issue, we talk with Kathleen McCleskey, MHR, owner of KM Consulting and Training Connection, about her experiences in teaching both university students and nonprofit professionals using a variety of teaching formats that include face-to-face professional training, Webinars, and online courses. Kathleen McCleskey is a self-employed consultant with over 20 years of experience in higher education and in providing training to nonprofit practitioners. She has served as an adjunct professor at the University of North Texas and conducts online nonprofit courses for graduate and undergraduate students in the Educational Consortium for Volunteerism. Since 1984, Ms. McCleskey has developed and presented workshops to over 14,000 participants from diverse backgrounds, education, nationality, and heritage. In 2001 and 2007, the Graduate School (an independent educational institution headquartered in Washington, DC) named her one of the top trainers in the nation. Other awards include the Civilian Patriotic Service Award, the Civilian Service Award, the Army's Emma Baird Award, and, in 2000, the Harriet Naylor Distinguished Member Award from the Association of Volunteer Administration.
