Abstract

The use of applications, or “apps” as commonly called, on handheld technology devices is becoming increasingly popular in physical education environments. Apps can provide teachers with easily accessible tools to enhance teaching and learning. Particularly, there are a multitude of apps available that can assist with the specific learning needs of students with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs), including behavior management, social interaction, and communication. This article provides an overview of instructional strategies for integrating apps in physical education and how they may facilitate the learning needs of students with ASD.
