Educational Assessment of Learning Disabilities: A New Generation of Achievement Measures

Abstract

Within the past two years, four ofthe individual standardized achievement tests most often used in assessment of learning disabilities have undergone revision: the Peabody Individual Achievement Test-Revised, the WoodcockJohnson- Revised Tests ofAchievement, the Woodcock Reading Mastery Tests-Revised, and the KeyMath-Revised. This article reviews these new measures within the context ofcurrent directions in special education. Among the areas considered are the academic skills selected for assessment, improvements in test norms, administration and scoring demands, proliferation of test results~ and implications for research.
