Abstract

This article introduces a physical activity (PA) modification tool to fitness coaches, personal trainers and other fitness professionals. The TREE acronym (Teaching style, Rules, Equipment, and Environment) is a modification tool used to accommodate individuals with disabilities in PA and create more inclusive PA opportunities. The TREE model, and similar modification tools, have been largely used in physical education and sport settings. However, this model can be translated to a variety of activity types. This paper aims to introduce and apply the TREE tool to a variety of fitness environments such as individual personal training and group fitness classes.
